It's The Democracy, Period

If this week does not demonstrate that voting is about democracy, period, I don't know what will. First the Supreme Court said states have to fund religious schools. Then came the NY conceal carry law ruling from the Supremes. Now they strike down Roe v. Wade. Oh wait, first they fucked with the sanctity of Miranda. Who is to blame for these anti-democratic rulings, we are, the voters. Most of the blame falls to voters, who don't vote. 

My mother indoctrinated me in the need for politics. Dad read the sports page and she read the politics page in our local newspaper. As an Irish Catholic, Dad became political when "Jack" Kennedy announced for president. Then he got real political. When he was gunned down, it increased. So I watched my parents discussing politics at the dinner table while watching Walter Cronkite.

My kids are "political" because we raised ours in the same atmosphere. But now all Americans need to get political. Now we all need to vote like our very freedom to life and liberty are at risk. The current GOP is an anti-democratic religious cult now. Voting them out of office is our only course of action.

It can be done. It can even be done in deep Red states. However it will take two things, one that's easy and another not so easy. The easy one, people who have never cast a vote, need to vote. 

Why do I say that's the one that's easier? Simple, getting a non-voter to vote, is a matter of motivating them to do something they didn't think would matter. This week's rulings show the fallacy in that thinking.

The second involves changing minds. That's much harder, especially when their politics are being formed in church on the Sabbath. Mostly it's conservative Christian churches that are pushing this abortion fight. 

They say the right to an abortion isn't in the Constitution, Guess what, Jesus never discusses the topic. In fact in that era, women ended pregnancies with herbs and other concoctions so long as movement had not been detected. 

In fact medicines to abort pregnancies were used in the 18th & 19th Centuries. It's not until the Victorian age and its prudish opinions did abortion become an issue involving other people, not the mother. 

The women of America have made major achievements. They fought for and won their own right to vote. However, first they outlawed alcohol because their husbands were getting drunk and beating them. That's the history, the Volstead Act became the 18th Amendment and then the 19th Amendment ensured a woman's right to vote. They were roughly a year apart.

America can change quickly when it needs to, like between 1919 and 1933. In those years America outlawed alcohol, granted the right to vote to women, shortened the "lame duck" period between the election and inauguration, and then corrected their earlier mistake and repealed the 18th Amendment. All led by women voters who formed The League of Women Voters in early 1920.

Now we have to vote to reverse the work the GOP has done corrupting our courts with their religious ideology. Conservative Republicans using the "sanctity" of the "Church" behind their efforts, have finally changed the legal landscape of America. 

People are rightfully upset because in his concurrence "Justice" Thomas said all rulings based on substantive due process were wrongly decided. He and the other conservatives want their conservative religious beliefs to trump the centuries old Constitution that we have depended on to, "establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves" Remember the "ourselves" being referred to there are set out in the first line of the Constitution, "We The People".

If I haven't given you enough proof that if left to their own devices the RNC will end our majority rule democratic republic in favor of fascist minority rule, I don't know what will. Don't believe me, read what retired General Mike Glynn said in Nov. 2021, ""If we are going to have one nation under God, which we must, we have to have one religion," he said. "One nation under God and one religion under God, right?" That's their next front, they have codified a fraud on America in the 2nd Amendment, and now they will come for all your rights under the First. Striking down Roe, struck down your substantive due process rights under the 14th Amendment. 

Get off your ass and vote out "America's conservative religious cult" now dba as the "Republican National Committee."
